'Twilight' Vs. 'Harry Potter' At MTV Movie Awards: Celebs Weigh In!

Given the fact that the latest installments in the blockbuster "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" film franchises are the first and third most-nominated films leading into Sunday's MTV Movie Awards — with eight nominations for "Eclipse" and six nominations for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" — we figured it would be fun to ask a few of our favorite celebs the most polarizing of all questions: Team Potter or Team Twilight?

"Wow, that's hard, because I love both of them," Elle Fanning told us of her divided devotion, made especially difficult because of the fact that Fanning's older sister Dakota appears in "The Twilight Saga."

"There's something really sexual about 'Twilight,' " superstar figure skater Johnny Weir pointed out. "And as an older gentleman, I enjoy that."

"Who doesn't want to be a witch or wizard and go to school at Hogwarts?" "Pretty Little Liars" star Troian Bellisario asked rhetorically.

"I'm going to have to remain neutral on that," "X-Men: First Class" star Michael Fassbender said diplomatically.

"You said you cried watching 'Twilight,' after 30 seconds," Fassbender's co-star James McAvoy pointed out.

"Dammit, James!" Fassbender exclaimed sarcastically, pretending to be embarrassed by some big secret he was trying to keep.

" 'Harry Potter' is more my generation," Camilla Belle said. "I remember I was in elementary school when 'Harry Potter' came out."

"I'd have to say [Team] Twilight," "Glee" star Chord Overstreet added.

"I'm a 'Potter' person, because 'Potter' got me reading," revealed "Friday Night Lights" and "Prom" actress Aimee Teegarden.

"[There's] something about vampires and werewolves that do it for me," Hilary Duff weighed in, bringing the unofficial poll count to three Team Potter members vs. four for Team Twilight.

At this year's Movie Awards, "Eclipse" (eight nominations) will be facing off against "Inception" (seven noms) and "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (six noms). Voting in all the categories, from Best Kiss to Best Fight to Best Scared-as-S**t Performance and beyond, is currently under way over at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Voting is set to close June 4. But voting for Best Movie will stay open through the show itself, meaning you have a chance to affect the night's biggest winner up until the very last minute.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Will vampires and werewolves own the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Can wizards or dream thieves steal the Golden Popcorn? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Drake Talks 'Crafting' DJ Khaled's 'I'm On One' Collabo

'That's the first time anybody has ever heard all three of us on a record,' Drizzy tells MTV News of teaming with Rick Ross, Lil Wayne.

Drake is such a nice guy. When DJ Khaled approached Drizzy to appear on a track off of his upcoming Cash Money album, We the Best Forever, the Thank Me Later MC wanted to lend something memorable to his friend's project. The result, "I'm On One," Khaled's latest single featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and, of course, Drake.

"Khaled waited, like, forever and a day. I was taking my sweet time trying to craft this piece of music because I knew he needed a special moment," Drizzy told MTV News at the song's video shoot in Miami. "When I did it, I was like, 'OK, it's gotta be me, Ross and Wayne.' That's the first time anybody has ever heard all three of us on a record."

After leaking the song onto the Internet on May 12, Khaled and company were out shooting the video for "I'm On One" this past weekend — just 15 days later — and that fact isn't lost on Drake. "To be out here shooting a video, it's amazing how things work nowadays," he said. "I used to make music and never think anyone was gonna hear it, now I make music and two weeks later, we're shooting crazy videos in Miami, living the life."

Aside from working with Wayne, who Drake is signed to and frequently shows appreciation for, the Toronto-born rapper spoke on his admiration for his "brother" Rozay. "That's one of my favorite people to rap with in the world," Drizzy said. "That's family the same way YM is family, the same way that OVO is family," he said, name-checking his Young Money and October's Very Own teams. "Ross know what it is, MMG all day, I hold that close to my heart."

Rihanna Pulls The Trigger In 'Man Down' Video

Jamaica-set clip shows pop star locked in a violent confrontation.

Rihanna has always repped her island roots, so it was only fitting that the red-haired diva took to Jamaica to film the new video for her reggae-inspired single "Man Down." But, as fans may have guessed from the song title, things take a turn for the worse in the clip when the pop star guns down a man after a late-night struggle.

"Man Down" begins on a dramatic note when Rihanna shoots a man who's making his way through a busy train station. After committing her crime, the songstress flees the scene. But in order to give viewers some backstory, the video travels back in time to the previous day, when the singer is seen riding her bike and socializing on the streets of Jamaica, as well as embracing the island's hotspots. Mandler also cuts back and forth to scenes of the star singing the tune alone inside a bedroom at dusk.

At a nightclub, Rihanna begins to dance alongside another clubgoer. But it's not until after she leaves the venue that fans understand the motive behind her crime. After she leaves the club, the singer's dance-floor partner soon follows the songstress outside and begins to get violent. "Man Down" cuts straight to the scene of a disheveled Rih crying in the street, after what appears to have been a rape. The video concludes with the singer grabbing a gun hidden in a dresser drawer.

Before the video's premiere, the Barbadian beauty released a behind-the-scenes teaser. "I've always wanted to do a video here. 'Man Down' is just a song that you can't do anywhere else. We need to be authentic," she said, adding, "You can't get any realer than Jamaica."

The Rihanna Navy shouldn't be too shocked at the clip's intense story line as they've received a number of hints from both the 23-year-old pop star and video director in recent weeks. Just yesterday, the singer took to Twitter to unveil a bit about the visual's theme, tweeting, "Its #Gritty #GULLY #Emotional #JAMRock Very strong underlying message 4 girls like me! #listentoyomama."

MTV News spoke with Mandler a few weeks ago about the clip, and he revealed that Rihanna let him take the visual to the extreme. "We shot the video last month in Jamaica and it's my favorite song she's ever recorded, so I was really excited to get involved," he said. "And it's just one of those songs that demands a strong narrative and visual, and let's just say, she let me go all the way. So I think you can expect something that's dramatic and shocking and intense and emotional and uplifting and enlightening."

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California -- When she sat down for MTV's Sneak Peek Week to chat about the high school indie "The Art of Getting By," Elizabeth Reaser also opened up about saying goodbye to "Twilight," which wrapped up its epic, multi-year production earlier this year.

"Oh, yeah, there was a lot of emotion," she said at the Pacific Design Center screening, where the indie flick had just screened. "I mean, [for] months we had been through so much different weather craziness [in all different locations that] we were in denial of it the whole time."

She recalled saying goodbye to the epic five-movie saga while shooting the highly-anticipated Edward/Bella wedding scene, even though her work on the film wasn't quite over. She'd had to stick around a bit longer to finish up some shooting on the film.

"Suddenly, we were on the dance floor at the wedding and it was suddenly over," she said. "It's also 7 in the morning, and we had been shooting all night, so it was this weird, surreal experience. We were all in shock."

Sean Kingston remains hospitalized in critical condition and hooked up to a ventilator with a tube inserted in his throat after a jet-ski accident in Miami, but his rep tells MTV News, "He is aware of what is going on around him," adding that the singer "is sedated but fully conscious."

Jackson Memorial, the hospital where Kingston is being treated, also issued this statement to MTV: " Sean Kingston is currently in critical but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Sean's family asks for privacy at this time but is thankful to his friends, family and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes."

On Sunday, Kingston and a female passenger crashed his Sea Doo jet-ski into the Palm Island Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. ET. After being rescued by an off-duty Coast Guard employee, the pop star was taken to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial, but has since been moved to the intensive care unit. TMZ spoke to Kingston's rescuer, who said that Sean was "puking up blood out of his mouth." Another witness told the site he noticed a gash under Kingston's chin after the crash.

Cassandra Sanchez, Sean's friend and passenger on the jet-ski at the time of the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital, Kingston's rep confirmed to us. Sanchez also spoke to the gossip site, telling them Kingston tried to turn away from the bridge but was going "really fast" and couldn't avoid the crash. Sanchez also said that as Kingston was maneuvering toward the bridge, she urged him to stop and screamed out, "We can't fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Sean, stop!"

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — At the Pacific Design Center on Tuesday night (May 31), the stars of "The Art of Getting By" assembled for MTV's Sneak Peek Week, and they opened up about the New York City set of the coming-of-age dramedy.

The film follows a set of New York teens as they embark on the real world and attempt to make grown-up decisions and say goodbye to their adolescence.

The audience seemed to connect to the film's drama and comedy, especially relating to the heart of the story as George (played by Freddie Highmore) attempts to change his image from careless slacker, win the heart of Sally (Emma Roberts) and embrace his talent as an artist.

The film's leading lady, Emma Roberts, confessed that she signed on thanks to her feelings for her character Sally. "I just loved the dynamic between all the different characters," she said. "To me, I related to her personally."

Of shooting in New York, she gushed about the chance. "New York is a fun place to shoot, but it's definitely hectic."

Roberts' onscreen love interest, Michael Angarano, added, "I think [director] Gavin [Wiesen] wrote it in a way that made it very relatable. It's definitely an authentic movie about a very specific time in your life. My least favorite part of the script was that [my] Dustin character was so unlikeable. He probably thinks he's wiser than he probably is."

Elizabeth Reaser jumped at the chance to play Sally's mom, who is very different from her character in "Twilight." "It was the script, and then I feel in love with the characters," she said. "I was fascinated by someone who would behave like this.

"It was very exciting [to play this kind of mom]. . All those things were fascinating to me," she added. "I think she's a really good mom. I think she loves her daughter."

Stick with MTV News all week as we gear up for Sunday's Movie Awards with a Sneak Peek Week screening and live-stream Q&A session every night this week.

Death Cab For Cutie's Guide To Seattle: Coffee And Drum Lessons From Dave Grohl

In part two of our 'Seattle Sonics' series, the band takes us to their Sip & Ship 'nerve center' and American Music shop.
By James Montgomery

Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla and Jason McGerr

Photo: MTV News

SEATTLE — Chris Walla is a bit of a multitasker: That much is clear just by his rather prodigious output as a producer, solo musician and full-time member of Death Cab for Cutie. So it should probably come as no surprise that, for MTV News' second edition of "Seattle Sonics," Walla decided to take us to one of his favorite spots in Seatown: Sip & Ship, the kind of place that defines multitasking.

See, S&S is the sort of place that seemingly only exists in Seattle: A communal, cozy combination shipping depot/coffee bar that also happens to be a gift shop. Oh, and they make a mean grilled cheese, too.

Located in the city's Ballard neighborhood — right down the block from a nefarious FedEx Office outpost — Walla first visited the shop six years ago (after a rather terrible experience at said FedEx), and in the time since, Sip & Ship has become the de facto home office for all things Death Cab. Merch, master tapes of albums, musical instruments and the occasional eBay purchase all pass through S&S.

Walla has become close friends with the shop's owners (one of them, Diana Naramore, even made a cameo in his "Sing Again" video) and the coffee's really great, too.

"This place has become a communications and shipping and caffeine and calorie hub without which I don't think Death Cab for Cutie would actually be able to do any business at all. This is one of the Seattle nerve centers of the band," Walla explained. "We did a whole series of test-pressings for the new record, and we got four or five shipments of them here. We'd pick 'em up and then go home and listen to records."

Drummer Jason McGerr also chimed in: "It's a far safer bet than my doorstep — which I don't even step on all that often," he said, laughing.

And while Sip & Ship has been an important cog in the Death Cab machine for six years, there's another spot nearby that's been part of their lives for much longer: American Music, a Seattle institution since it first opened its doors in 1973 and the place where local bands (you know, like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains) went to get their gear. It's not surprising that both Walla — who grew up nearby — and McGerr — who worked there in 1994, when he was 19 years old — chose it as the next place they took our cameras.

"I traded all my paychecks for equipment, and I got to know a whole lot of local drummers," McGerr said from his old post behind the American counter. "And there were times, 10 minutes before close, Dave Grohl would come in and sit down and just start blowing on drums and the front door would shut and we'd sit there and watch him. ... There was always a scene happening within the store. If you played music and you got your supplies in Seattle, it was from American Music."

And American was also where you'd find Walla hanging out as a slightly awkward teenager, doing "double drummer stuff" with friend (and former Death Cab drummer) Nathan Good. And he did it mostly out of necessity, because back then, there weren't many places 15-year-old music obsessives could hang out, due mostly to Seattle's oppressive target="_blank">Teen Dance Ordinance, which made all-ages shows all but impossible to organize. And, really, to Walla, that's what makes the place much more than a music store. It's sort of his home away from home.

"I got a lot of stuff here that was cast-off junk, but I still use it," Walla said. "There are tons of music stores that are just enormous boxes, that are full of guitars and drums and cymbals and whatever, and they might have more stock than a place like American does, but American has the heart and soul of a music store that I want when I walk into a music store."

Death Cab for Cutie: Seattle Sonics continues all week on MTVNews.com. On Thursday, we'll head to a vaunted (and now defunct) all-ages venue where DCFC learned how to be a band — and still made it home in time for curfew.

'X-Men: First Class' Stars Say Their Heroes 'Feel Like Real People'

James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender tell MTV News that the mutants' struggle is a 'universal theme.'

Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy

In a summer-movie season filled with caped crusaders, hammer-wielders and other assorted superheroes, a casual filmgoer might have trouble separating the mutants from future Avengers and all the complicated mythologies and story lines that follow.

When MTV News sat down with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy recently to talk all things "X-Men: First Class," we asked them to explain what separates their characters — Erik Lehnsherr/ Magneto and Charles Xavier/ Professor X, respectively — from the rest of the summer's superpowered pack.

"Well, it's not in 3-D, that's a start," Fassbender said.

"It's not in 3-D, thank the heavens," McAvoy agreed. "I think the X-Men, the X-people, mutants, they use their powers for good, just like a superhero does, but they don't feel like superheroes. They feel like real people more — maybe that's the thing that sets it apart."

"I think the philosophy of it as well," Fassbender added. "The idea of alienation and misfits in society and how they struggle to be accepted and to find a place for them in society, I think that's a universal theme and why people across the world find them intriguing."

Regarding Fassbender's portrayal of the infamous mutant and future supervillain, we asked if the James Bond-ian aspects of his performance were intentional or based on the swingin' '60s-era setting of the film.

"I just saw it as an opportunity to do a really elaborate James Bond audition," he joked, which sent McAvoy into a mini-fit of giggles. "I just really exploited that fact really, and one always has to worry about the next job, that's the problem," he said with a smile.

"In all seriousness," he continued, "[director] Matthew [Vaughn] did say to me that the fact that it was set in the '60s, and this character, Erik, he had envisioned him as a James Bond from the past, perhaps the Sean Connery-type mold," Fassbender revealed. "I was like, 'That's interesting,' but it didn't really affect my portrayal. I just concentrated on what was in the comic books. The biography available in the comic books was so dense that I was spoiled for choice to go away and create this Machiavellian character."

Check out everything we've got on "X-Men: First Class."

After entering a hospital on Sunday with critical injuries from a personal watercraft crash, singer Sean Kingston is now expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.

CNN, citing two unnamed sources close to Kingston, reported that the injuries sustained in the crash should take around six weeks to heal. The sources told the news network that the "Beautiful Girls" singer suffered a broken jaw, a fractured wrist and water in his lungs.

The last update from Kingston's label, Epic Records, reported that he was in "critical but stable condition" in a Miami hospital on Tuesday. His rep also told MTV News that Kingston, 21, is "aware of what is going on around him" and that he was "sedated but fully conscious."

On Sunday, Kingston and a female passenger crashed his Sea Doo jet ski into the Palm Island Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. ET. After being rescued by an off-duty Coast Guard employee, the pop star was taken to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, but has since been moved to the intensive care unit. TMZ spoke to Kingston's rescuer, who said that Sean was "puking up blood out of his mouth." Another witness told the site he noticed a gash under Kingston's chin after the crash.

Cassandra Sanchez, 23, Sean's friend and passenger on the jet ski at the time of the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital, Kingston's rep confirmed. Sanchez told TMZ that Kingston tried to turn away from the bridge but was going "really fast" and couldn't avoid the crash. Sanchez also said that as Kingston was maneuvering toward the bridge, she urged him to stop and screamed out, "We can't fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Sean, stop!"

Sanchez told TMZ on Tuesday that she had no plans to press charges against Kingston over the crash. "I know this whole thing was just an accident," she said. "I won't be pressing any type of charges or hiring a lawyer. Sean is a good guy."

CNN reported that Kingston had bought the jet ski just days before the accident, as he prepared to move into a new house in Miami. An eyewitness said Sean's life vest fell off during the crash, which caused him to sink below the water.

"They were calling us over, telling us, 'He's drowning, he's drowning,' " witness Carmen Rivera told CNN. "We jumped in the water to help him keep his head above water," friend Jimmy Vega added. "I pushed him up, and he was vomiting what seemed like water, and then there was some blood coming out," Jonathan Rivera said.

Rapper Trav, whose new song "Up and Down" features Kingston, told CNN he visited his friend in the hospital on Monday and said Sean was "very responsive."

Send your well wishes to Kingston by leaving a comment below.

Ron Artest -- Peacemaker In L.A. Nightclub Attack

Filed under: Ron Artest, TMZ Sports, Fights, The Facts Behind The Funny!

Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest helped break up a ferocious man vs. woman fistfight in front of an L.A. nightclub this weekend ... and TMZ obtained footage of the entire incident.

Artest had just left a club -- and was walking down Hollywood Blvd. when a woman and a man began to throw punches at each other RIGHT NEXT to the NBA superstar.

After some bobbing and weaving, 6'7", 260 pound Artest stepped in and quickly separated the two combatants. Once both fighters were restrained, Artest got into a waiting vehicle and went home.

TMZ spoke with Artest who told us, "Unfortunately there was a situation at the club and some people had too much to drink, and got unruly and aggressive. I tried to diffuse the situation. Some people just don't think clearly when they've had too much to drink -- it's an unfortunate reality. "

We also spoke with the female fighter -- who admits she was "wasted" ... but insists the other guy instigated the violence.

Lady Gaga Crashes <I>Billboard</I> With 1.1 Million

Born This Way is the first record since 2005 to sell more than 1.1 million in a week.

We knew Lady Gaga's Born This Way was going to crush it on the Billboard 200 charts, the only question was how hard. The answer, it turns out, is very.

Gaga's relentlessly hyped second full-length studio album easily takes the pole position on next week's chart with sales of more than 1.1 million in its first week, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, marking the first album since 50 Cent's 2005 effort, The Massacre, to cross the 1.1 million plateau in a week. Along the way, Born This Way became only the 17th album in the SoundScan era (which began in 1991) to sell 1 million copies in its first week. And though she's sold more than 15 million albums across the globe to date, BTW marks the first #1 debut for the international pop diva. People weren't just looking for Gaga's new one, either. Sales of her debut, The Fame, are up more than 50 percent to 19,000, sending the disc up 20 spots on the chart.

Coming in way back at #2 is the chart debut of Brad Paisley's This Is Country Music (153,000), followed by the year-to-date chart queen, Adele, whose 21 drops to #3 (only the second time it's fallen this low in its nearly three and a half months of release), while moving another 126,000 copies to edge toward the 2 million mark.

The fourth spot is the debut of the latest "Glee" soundtrack, Glee: The Music, Vol. 6 (80,000), followed by the Maybach Music compilation, MMG Presents: Self Made, Volume 1 (59,000). The joint boy band album NKOTBSB shows up at #7 (40,000) and the debut from Foster the People, Torches, hits #8 (33,000) thanks, no doubt, to the hit "Pumped Up Kicks."

The rest of the top 10 includes NOW 38 (#6, 45,000), Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (#9, 33,000) and Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More (#10, 25,000).

"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery had a promising week, as the digital compilation of his performances, American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery, debuts at #12 on sales of 23,000, while runner-up Lauren Alaina's comp has to settle for a #42 landing (11,000).

Gaga knocked Adele down a notch on the iTunes album charts, taking the lead position and pushing the British soul singer to #2, just ahead of Paisley, McCreery, Foster the People, "Glee," the MMG Presents compilation, Alaina, Mumford and Blacklight by Christian hip-hopper Tedashii. Adele could not be shaken, however, on the iTunes singles tally, where her smash single, "Rolling in the Deep," keeps the top position, followed by Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," McCreery's "I Love You This Big," Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," DJ Khaled's "I'm the One," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song," Alaina's "Like My Mother Does," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor."

Gaga seems pretty safe for another round, as the week's new faces include Death Cab for Cutie's Codes and Keys, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder's solo effort, Ukulele Songs, and My Morning Jacket's Circuital.

Official 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Trailer Hits Web

With a little more than six months to go until its theatrical release, the English-language adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has made its first official mark on American shores.

The official green-band trailer for "Dragon Tattoo," directed by "The Social Network" filmmaker David Fincher, has found its way online several days after an allegedly unauthorized red-band trailer circulated around the Net. The differences between the official trailer and the leaked red-band version (which has officially been taken off of YouTube, Sony representatives told The Hollywood Reporter) are few and far between, save for some scenes featuring nudity and brief glimpses of explicit violence.

In other words, this trailer is just as fantastic as the previously seen teaser. Indeed, while the "Dragon Tattoo" trailer's message isn't quite as bloody or vulgar as the one that protagonist Lisbeth Salander etches into the stomach of an unsuspecting rapist, it's clear that Fincher and his team — including Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who recruited Karen O for the Led Zeppelin cover that drives this clip — have gone all in on the dark and gritty tone that this story is best known for.

Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is based on late Swedish author Stieg Larsson's best-selling crime novel about Mikhail Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a crusading journalist facing jail time after losing a libel case involving major accusations about a fantastically wealthy and notoriously corrupt industrialist. But Blomkvist gets a second chance at redemption when reclusive billionaire Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) recruits the journalist to uncover the truth about his granddaughter's sudden disappearance four decades ago. In return for solving the mystery, Henrik promises to provide Blomkvist with all the evidence he needs to clear his name and depower the crooked millionaire once and for all.

But Blomkvist isn't alone in his quest; he's aided by the introverted and uniquely gifted Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), the punk-rock computer hacker who finds herself inexplicably drawn to Blomkvist and his case. But even with the girl with the dragon tattoo at his side, perhaps the disgraced journalist has bitten off more than he can chew as the horrible truth surrounding Harriet Vanger's disappearance slowly comes to light.

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" lands in theaters on December 21, 2011.

Arnold's Love Child -- NO DNA TEST!!!

Filed under: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, Mildred Patricia Baena, Celebrity Justice, Schwarzenegger Scandal

Arnold Schwarzenegger concedes he's Mildred "Patty" Baena's baby daddy, but TMZ has learned there was NEVER a DNA test establishing paternity.

0601_arnold_midlred4
Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the baby saga tell TMZ ... Arnold never demanded a DNA test.  We've also learned Baena never took steps to establish paternity through DNA.

As for why Arnold was so sure he was the father ... our sources say Baena's husband was not even in the United States when the baby was conceived.  He returned to the U.S. just days before the boy was born.

By the time the boy was a toddler, it became "physically obvious" that Arnold was the dad, one source says.  In fact, we're told several members of the Maria Shriver/Arnold Schwarzenegger staff sometimes confused Arnold's youngest son, Christopher, with Baena's child.

Beyonce Premieres 'Best Thing I Never Had'

Breakup tune, penned by B and Babyface, serves as second single off singer's new album, 4.

With "Me, Myself and I," "Irreplaceable" and even "If I Were a Boy," Beyoncé has proven that she excels at delivering top-notch pop&B, need-you-no-more-type jams. Her new single, "Best Thing I Never Had," which she co-wrote with Babyface and released on Wednesday morning (June 1), is just the latest entry in that category.

Following the eccentric dance sounds of her lead single "Run the World (Girls)," Bey takes things down a notch on this midtempo cut off her new album, 4. Reminiscent of her 2006 hit "Irreplaceable," the song has the pop star taking aim at a former lover, admitting that she no longer desires him after discovering his deceitful ways.

"I wanted you bad/ I'm so through with it/ Cuz honestly you turned out to be the best thing I never had/ You turned out to be the best thing I never had/ And I'm gon' always be the best thing you never had/ I bet it sucks to be you right now," she confidently sings on the chorus.

With its radio-friendly appeal and catchy chorus, "Best Thing I Never Had" sounds not unlike a song you'd hear during a Broadway musical. That may be because, as Beyoncé has revealed, she collaborated with the band from "Fela!" for "a couple of days" to gain inspiration from the play's subject, Nigerian musician Fela Kuti.

On the single artwork for "Best Thing I Never Had," a platinum-blond Beyoncé strikes a pose in a small bathroom. Sporting a tight-fitting dress, the pop star holds red lipstick up to a mirror after writing "King B" on it.

In addition to Babyface, it seems that the pop superstar has also collaborated recently with OneRepublic. "Just finished mix on Beyoncé song — last one to make her album, once again she blew me away vocally, this is sumthin different — hope ya like!" the band tweeted on Tuesday.

Eminem On Odd Future: 'The Dudes Can Rhyme'

"It feels like they're pushing boundaries and buttons," Eminem tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

src="http://www.mtv.com/shared/promoimages/bands/e/eminem/eminem_060111/article/281x211.jpg"/>

Eminem

Eminem has been known to cause a stir or two. From rapping about killing his daughter's mother on " '97 Bonnie & Clyde" to being deemed homophobic by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Slim Shady has courted his share of controversy over the years. Lately, L.A. collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All and their profanity-flinging frontman, Tyler, the Creator, have been drawing comparisons to Marshall, but what does Slim think of OFWGKTA?

"I think that from the stuff that I've heard — I haven't heard a lot from them, I still have to go check out everything that they're doing — but I've heard enough to know that it feels like they're pushing boundaries and buttons, and that's definitely one of the things that I'm familiar with, especially when I first came out," Eminem told Sway on the set of Bad Meets Evil's "Fast Lane" video in Detroit. "I love it, I love the fact that they're doing that. And the dudes can rhyme."

Eminem's Bad Meets Evil partner Royce Da 5'9" is a fan as well, particularly of OF's R&B portion. "I'm a big Frank Ocean fan," he said. "I'm feelin' the whole group. I'm with Em, though — I haven't heard enough of them. I heard more Frank Ocean, for some reason. It seems like he's standing out, for some reason."

When in his creative zone, as he has been lately, Em finds it hard to keep up with rap's newcomers. "If somebody has got a buzz and somebody is making noise, I'll go check 'em out. Sometimes I'm late getting to the party, sometimes I'm right on top of it as it's happening. It's hard, I think, when you're creating music and you're in the lab like me and him are a lot."

Mobb Deep Slept On Notorious B.I.G., Lost Boyz

Prodigy and Havoc tell Mixtape Daily they 'had tunnel vision.'

Celebrity Favorites: Mobb Deep

Hip-hop is super competitive, and sometimes rappers spend so much time trying to outdo each other that they miss out on good music. For instance, in his book, the Queens rapper talks about turning down the chance to collaborate with the Notorious B.I.G. on his 1997 Havoc-produced track "Last Day." Back then, Pee just wasn't a fan, but hindsight is 20/20.

"A lot of the people were coming on the block back in the days when Biggie had 'Party and Bullsh--,' his first record, and they would play it. I wasn't into it," Prodigy told Mixtape Daily. "I was focused on Mobb Deep. I had tunnel vision: I really didn't give a f--- what anybody was doin' in rap music, except for Mobb Deep and Nas and our little circle. Everything else was irrelevant to me."

So irrelevant that when Havoc was enlisted to produce on Big's 1997 sophomore LP, Life After Death, his partner-in-rhyme wanted no part of it. "I told Hav I just really didn't want to do that. That was my opinion at that time," Prodigy recalled.
However, after Biggie's tragic death, the H.N.I.C. decided to give the Brooklyn legend one more chance. "I started liking Biggie. After he started heating up, I started re-listening to it. I was like, 'This kid is alright. I like, son,' " Prodigy explained. "Sometimes that happens in life though."

Havoc attested to a similar situation: "I definitely wasn't checking for other people. I missed a lot of stuff in the '90s that I like now.
I just had tunnel vision," he said. "There was a lot of dope acts that was out back in the '90s, like the Lost Boyz. I never paid attention to their stuff."

The Lost Boyz — a rap group from South Jamaica, Queens, New York — broke out in 1995 with their hit record "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz," and though they were known for high-powered party anthems, Hav wasn't a fan in their heyday. He is today, though.
"Now, when I look back on it and I listen to their stuff now, it's like, 'Yo, they had that sh--.' They always kept the party poppin'. I really appreciate their music, and I'm glad that they made it," he said. "That's ill that they are even a part of the era that we came from."
